The eighth workshop of „Application of Supercritical Fluids” organized by the Working Group of Chemical Unit Operation of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Hungarian Chemical Society’s Technical Chemistry Division and the Department of Chemical and Environmental Process Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics will be held in the campus of Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in Budapest, Hungary on 17 May, 2018. The official language of the workshop is English.

The aim of this meeting – just like in the previous occasions – to introduce the wider scientific and technical-industrial community the recent progress on the application of supercritical fluids as solvents, including the research and development on high-pressure equipments, measurement of physical-chemical properties of these materials on high pressures and research on related fields including energy engineering and thermodynamics. One of the particular aim is to give opportunity to Hungarian researchers to present their results and – with the help of the presentation of foreign participants - to get an insight of the present international trends as well as to establish national and international contacts.

Contributions are welcome on any aspect of application of supercritical fluids (chromatography, extraction, energy engineering, etc.). Presentations can be made as oral presentation or in the poster section. Abstract of the presentations should be submitted (together with the registration form) not later than 15 March, 2018, marking the preferred form (oral of poster). Template for abstract can be downloded or it will be sent by e-mail upon request.

Manuscripts based on oral or poster presentations on the eighth conference of „Application of Supercritical Fluids” can be submitted to the Periodica Polytechnica Chemical Engineering (open access, IF(2016)=0.557, https://pp.bme.hu/ch), which is going to publish the collected papers in a Thematic Issue. The deadline for full manuscript submission is 30 June, 2018. All manuscript should be prepared according the format required by the journal. It is important that the manuscripts will go through the regular peer-review process of the journal. This implies that only unpublished material may be submitted.
